Many art elements include some sort of theme or something that helps explain the reason for each piece of work done. In ceramics all projects are alike and each project follows a theme. My theme was proportion and scale. In between those all projects were done in an orderly fashion.

To begin, i had created many projects over the semester. I had made, bowls, jars, sets, plates, planters, mugs, cups, teapots, vases, etc. Each project made i followed a guidline to get them done on time. Alot of my projects were choice projects (unrequired). I made small projects that were useable and all withing the sam eproportional size.

For example, my bowl was made by starting first by pulling a cylinder and then pulling the walls outward. The inside base had to be kept small and the walls flared from there so the project didnt look like it was a plate. My sets of jars were made from bowls but rounded and the lips of th projects pulled inward towards the innner base. Then jar lids were added these lids were knob lids. All jars i made were made in this same process. The cups were a simple cylinder with a hand pulled handle. The mug was almost a bowl but a very cylindrical bowl with two handles on each side of th project. The glazes used were all earth tones except on a few projects that the colors were vibrant and had designs on them. The only graphic project was a mug with a tree on both sides, then the jars with lines down one side of each. There was a 3d design on my vase using a green and a clear color the 3d leaves were easily seen on the sides of the project. There was a little bowl with snowflakes on them and had the words saying let it snow.

In addition, all of these projects were related. They were following a theme i had chosen earlier in the semester, order and proportion. The projects needed to follow this and i made sure the glazes were also in the same color scheme, earth tones. I wanted to have small projects and projects that if needed, could be used.

To conclude, all of these projects followed my theme guidelines much like many art pieces it helps explain how my projects reflect who i am. There were many projects and all followed order and proportion

OUTLINE:

Theme: control/proportion/scale

What:  There were 4 jars, 2 bowls, a teapot,

How:
The jars were thrown like bowls but the walls there pulled to together with a choking technique. The jars were kept all about the same size.  The jars were all about 4, 3, and 5 inches tall and wide. The lids for the jars were also kept the same. The scale for all the projects had about the same scale. The only differences were when the set of three were made the scale grew and shrank. The jars were blue and yellow. The one jar was a winter jar with snowflakes with the saying let it snow. The glazes were blue and clear.

The 2 bowls made started as cylinders and were pulled out and created a bowl shape. The glazes were shadow green, cobalt blue, and yellow.  The bowls were 6, 7 inches wide. the bowls were made thin and the  walls were pulled very wide to form a more flared project.

The teapot was a 4 part piece. It started as a jar and then the lid was made. The handle was pulled by hand then attached. Then the spout was pulled by hand and set to dry for 20 min. All were attached with slip.  The glaze used was granite egg.

Why: The projects chose the theme. The projects were the same scales and proportions sand kept all under control. The projects kept small and there wernt many complicated projects. all projects  were under control in the sense that the scale was kept the relativly close to eachother and the proportions were small.
